Privacy at Pudwise
Effective 31 August 2026. Pudwise is made by Oldman AI Solutions Inc. of Coaldale, Alberta, Canada.
What we collect
- Your email address and a display name, to run your account.
- What you save on purpose: your kitchen setup (oven, pan, fat), saved locations and their elevation, saved recipes, bake notes, ratings, and any photos you attach to a bake.
- Anything you post to the rise board: captions, comments, and reactions.
- A record of the recipes you calibrate: the numbers you gave us (elevation, humidity, oven, pan, fat, batch size) and the recipe we worked out from them, saved against your account with the date. We also log a row each time you save one, so we can see how much the app is being used. Nothing is metered against that count and nothing is limited by it: Pudwise is free, so there is no allowance to run out of.
That last one is the only thing we keep that you did not deliberately type in, and it never leaves our own database. We do not run ads, we do not send anything about you to an analytics or tracking company, we do not use an advertising ID, and we never sell your data.
Where it lives
Your data is stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider. The app is hosted on Vercel.
Your location
If you tap “Use my location”, your browser asks for your coordinates and we send them to Open-Meteo, a weather and elevation service, to look up your elevation and current humidity. That request goes from your browser straight to Open-Meteo. Your coordinates are never sent to us and are never stored: if you then save that spot as a kitchen, all we keep is the elevation figure and the name you gave it. You can skip the whole thing and type your elevation in by hand.
Photos and what is inside them
A photo from a phone usually carries hidden data the camera wrote into it, including the exact spot it was taken. Before a photo is stored we strip all of that out: EXIF, XMP and any embedded comment. Only the picture itself is kept. If a photo is damaged in a way that stops us removing it cleanly, we refuse the upload rather than store it as it came.
Other services your app talks to
Two, and only when they are needed. Open-Meteo, described above, and Google Fonts, which serves the two typefaces the app is set in. Loading a font means Google sees your IP address and browser, the same way it does on any website using a hosted font. Neither of them is an analytics or advertising service, and neither is given anything you have saved in Pudwise.
What is private and what is public
- Your recipes, bake journal, and photos are private by default. Photos live in a private bucket and are only ever served through short lived signed links.
- A bake appears on the public rise board only if you choose to share it, and only after a moderator approves it. Your display name is shown on approved posts.
Payments
There are none. Pudwise is free: there is nothing to buy, no card to enter, and no trial to run out. We do not ask you for payment details, so we hold none, and no payment processor is involved in your use of the app. If that ever changes we will say so here and in the app before it does, not after.
Your choices
- In the app today you can remove a saved kitchen, undo a reaction, and report a post or a comment to a moderator.
- You can block another baker from any of their posts or comments, which hides everything of theirs from your rise board. They are not told. It is not permanent: Blocked bakers in the account menu lists everyone you have blocked and undoes any of them.
- You can delete any single saved recipe or logged bake from My recipes, and its photo goes with it. You can take your own bake off the rise board, or delete your own comment, from the post itself. You can change your display name under Your profile in the account menu.
- To delete your whole account and everything in it, see Delete your account.
- To ask for a copy of what we hold about you, email us and we will send it.
